New: The #Patriots have agreed to terms with QB Brian Hoyer and G/C James Ferentz, according to a league source. This comes a day after the club agreed with safety Devin McCourty (1 year, $9 million).

I was told that with Ryan Jensen returning, it will be very difficult for the Bucs to also bring back Alex Cappa...especially with a team like the Bengals very much in need of offensive line help. He could be one early departure. Legal tampering gets underway at noon ET.

Mike Garafolo (@MikeGarafolo)
The #Bills are releasing OT Daryl Williams, source says. He started every game for Buffalo over the last two seasons. He was slated to make $8.125 million this season. However, don’t rule out a possible return down the line. The sides will remain in touch.

Connor Hughes @Connor_J_Hughes
The #Jaguars, #Bengals & #Jets are the three teams who have shown the most interest in free-agent guard Brandon Scherff, sources tell
@TheAthletic. Scherff is not expected to return to Washington.

Paul Dehner Jr.
@pauldehnerjr
#Bengals expected to be linked to Scherff, as with any top-tier IOL. He's one of the best guards in football. Biggest question is one of durability and how high his market goes. But if they slotted big coin for Jensen, easy to see more $ sliding over into the Scherff talks.

Adam Schefter @AdamSchefter
Bengals have notified @DrewJRosenhaus that they are tendering restricted free agent offensive lineman Fred Johnson at $2.433 million.

Charlie Goldsmith @CharlieG__
Fred Johnson likely slots back in as the Bengals No. 4 tackle. For most of the year, he was behind D’Ante Smith on the active roster.
The Bengals have Williams, Prince, Smith and Johnson under contract now. They still have the opportunity to sign or draft a starter at OT.

Paul Dehner Jr.
@pauldehnerjr
#Bengals tendering Fred Johnson, as @AdamSchefter tweeted, changes little. He's undrafted, so there would be no compensation if another team made an offer. His one-year, $2.43M tender is not guaranteed. Bengals on hook for nothing if cut. Crossing fingers on maturation.

Tom Brady’s loss will be Joe Burrow’s gain: Bucs’ free-agent guard Alex Cappa intends to sign a four-year, $40 million deal with the Bengals after free agency opens, per league sources.

The Cappa deal doubles the AAV of the highest amount the #Bengals had ever given to a guard in their history.
Joe Burrow changes the way they do business yet again.

AAV = Average Annual Value ;)

Alex Cappa seriously tried to play with a broken leg against Washington in the wild-card game in 2020. Like he legit tried to play on a BROKEN LEG. Unreal toughness. An instant upgrade for the Bengals’ offensive line.
I was crazy back when being crazy really meant something.
